A word from the office of the Governor

This site is about us opening up to the world about our heritage rich with cultural diversity, our raw untapped opportunity for growth in agriculture and industry, our attractive and lucrative platform for professional and social growth and most importantly, a conducive environment with beautiful, warm people as neighbors to call home.

Every department, every component of this government is represented in this site and you are invited to walk through and learn all there is to learn about Busia County and her people.

As you learn from us, we want to learn from you too. We want to hear your opinion, we want to know where we can be of help, we want to know what we can do to change and improve this county. We want to know where we have made positive change and where we improve some more. Karibu Busia!

Our Key Projects

The facility, which is a result of the collaboration between the County Government of Busia, Council of Governors (CoG) and the National Government has increased our bed capacity at BCRH from 200 to 300 at cost of Kes. 100 million.

With the support of our development partners led by TradeMark East Africa we mobilised resources and constructed a beautiful safe market for our cross border women traders.

The effects of flooding after the ox-bow lake Kanyaboli broke the dyke has affected 30, 000 households and over 20, 000 acres land under crops were submerged in water. We intend to engage national government through NYS and other state agencies to repair the destroyed roads and bridges as emergency measures

Our partner, TradeMark Africa has set aside over kshs 200 million to fund feasibility study for expansion of Busia town. The feasibility study aims at decongesting Busia town through construction of Budokomi custom ring road, parking areas for trucks and dualling of Kisumu – Busia road.
